“Super” Lamp Designed By Martine Bedin for Memphis.
1981, Milano
Floor or table lamp in structural polyurethane and metal.
Born in Bordeaux, Martine Bedin was only 23 when Sottsass took her under his wing after seeing her Casa Decorata at the 1979 Milan Triennale. Participating in the Memphis founding gave her an education in ideal design, a very precocious experience that pushed her to conceive an impressive variety of objects together with some of the freest and most irreverent exponents of industrial thought. Super is a table lamp produced specifically for Memphis Milano. The light source of this lamp consists of six colored lacquered metal cylinders arranged on a fiberglass semicircle, which in turn rests on rubber wheels. Once again, Memphis, with its diverse materials and finishes, makes its products true design icons.
